‘IDEA ‘JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE 2012’: Ludhiana school wins

Ludhiana, November 30, 2012:Idea ‘Junior Championship League 2012’, an inter-school sports championship,conceptualised by IDEA Cellular, came to a grand closure in Ludhiana. The unique championship aimed atidentifying and recognizing the best sporting talent from across 180 schools in Punjab, concluded at an exciting event here today.

The Ludhiana zonal finals, held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana saw students from 30 schools compete against each other in 7 sports categories including sports such as Races, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Volley Ball, Hockey, Judo, etc.

The Grand Finale, similar to last year, received a phenomenal response from the participants, alongwith their coaches, parents and schools. The finalists selected from amongst 30 schools in Ludhiana competed with each other with full zeal and excitement.

Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School was declared as the winner of this edition of Idea Juniors Championship league and won a prize worth Rs. 20,000.The Gold medalists across the 7 categories will now be trained by senior coaches of the Punjab sports department for 6 months. Any IJCL 2012 winners who go on to win any National level tournament also stand a chance to win an exclusive Rs. 10,000 worth branded sports kitfrom Idea. All the other students who participated also won certificates from Idea.

Idea had added new elements in the second season of Idea Juniors Champions League-2012. These included a cash award of Rs. 20,000 for the school winning the Championship in each city; 6 months free training by senior coaches of the Punjab Sports Department for Gold Medalists; and an exclusive Rs. 10,000 worth branded sports kit for the Idea JCL winner, who also goes on to win any National level tournament. Also, exclusive counselling sessions were held in each city with child psychologists and sports personalities.

With this pioneering effort, Idea became the first brand in the telecom category to focus on building brand awareness amongst this nascent and high potential segment.
