3RD LUDHIANA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL STARTS TODAY

Ludhiana, November 11, 2017: The third edition of Ludhiana Short Film Festival started at Ishmeet Singh Music Institute, here today. During this two day mega event, a total of 20 short films would be showcased and on the opening day, 10 short films were screened. The 3rd Ludhiana Short Film Festival was inaugurated by former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University Dr SP Singh, Golden Star singer Malkiat Singh, Chairman, International Punjabi Virasat Academy Prof Gurbhajan Gill, Canada based Philanthropist Sukhi Batth, Canada based realtor Kuldip Gill, noted actor Sardar Sohi, besides others.
While addressing the gathering, Dr SP Singh and Golden Star Malkiat Singh congratulated the organisers of 3rd Ludhiana Short Film Meet, Mr Pardeep Singh, Prof Gurbhajan Gill and Mr Balwinder Singh Gill, for coming together and providing a platform to short film makers to showcasing their talent in a professional manner.
The short films showcased today included Twice A Day, Lori, Kaafir, Sardari, Sympathy, Silsila, Jebkatra, Asteefa, Sulghdi Mitti, Speak In English, besides others. The films to be showcased tomorrow include Lost, Boiler, Thank You Circus, Kutta Kaum, Waris, Mashooq Ki Hundi Hai, Sanmaan, Sadi Boli Sadi Pehchan, Izzat and others. A book titled History of Punjabi Cinema from 1935-1985 by Mr Bhim Garg and Mandeep Sidhu would be released tomorrow.
Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Chairman, International Punjabi Virasat Academy, said that all the short films showcased in this two day event have been specially chosen by a jury of experts. He said that all the participants are common people, with only few related to theatre and cultural activities. He said that unlike commercial cinema, the short films are basically eye openers for our society and give hidden social messages.
Mr Pardeep Singh informed that out of more than 100 entries, 20 short films of a range of topics including environment, social evils, crime, and others would be showcased in this two day event that started at the Ishmeet Singh Music Institute today.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Manjit Singh Chhabra, Kamaljeet Neelon, Pawan Deep Khanna, Pritam Singh Bharowal, Ravinder Bhathal, Amarjit Sherpuri, Gulzar Pandher, Manmohan Vinayak, Paramjit Sohal, Dr Yadwinder Singh, Sunil Sharma, Rajdeep Toor, Bhim Garg, besides several others.
