Bathinda, December 11, 2013: The day 11.12.13 has entered into the annals of history of sports in Punjab as the world has witnessed the furious battles of Kabaddi in four different semi finals played at Multipurpose Sports Stadium at Bathinda today.
Four semi finals were played today in which Indian men team out smarten England with the margin of ??? points, Pakistan crushed USA with the point difference of 51-33. In women category Indian players kneeled down Pakistan by 46-16 points and New Zealand team defeated Denmark with scoring 44 point against Denmark’s 25 point.
Now the stage has set for the grand finale in which hot favorite host Indian men team would fight with Pakistan to retain the title for the third consecutive year and women Indian Kabaddi brigade would be up against abruptly emerged New Zealand Kabaddi team. In women section team India would also try to defend its title.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab inaugurated the semi final match between India and England and Pakistan and USA. The men’s final would be played on December 14 at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana while in women category final show down would be in action at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Jalandhar on December 12. The Kabaddi teams both in men and women categories which have lost their semi finals today would be in action once again for the last time on December 12 at Jalandhar for securing third position in the medal tally.
Men Section
India out classed England (62-32)
The highly publicized and much awaited semi final of the day was played between host Indian and England team. In this match as expected India emerged victories. India defeated Iran with margin of 62-32 points. At the end of 1st half India was leading with 31-16 points. Indian raiders Lovepreet Singh and Sultan earned 10-10 point each whereas its stopper Mangat Singh Mangi and Khushi bagged 5 and 4 points respectively. England Raider Parmjot Sangha and Gurdit Badesha bagged 11 and 9 points respectively.
Pakistan thrashed USA (51-33)
Star studded Pakistan team defeated USA by 51-33 in the first men’s semi final of 4th World Cup Kabbadi 2013. At the end f 1st half Pakistan team was leading with 29-13.
Pakistan’s raiders Shafeek Chisti, Akmal Doger and Babar Gujjar scored 10, 9 and 7 points respectively whereas stoppers Matbool Ali and Mohammad Wagar bagged 6 and 4 points respectively.
