60 years old successfully operated for spinal cord compression

Chandigarh, November 7, 2014: A 60-years old patient was successfully operated for spinal cord compression enabling him to resume daily routine in just three days.

Elaborating about the patient, whom senior spine and joint replacement surgeon at Gian Sagar Hospital Dr M.S Narula, Director - Spine & Joint Replacement Unit successfully operated, said that the patient said that with the advancements in technology and latest equipments available at the Gian Sagar Hospital, even the complex spinal surgeries have the best of results.

He added that the patient named was retiree from Army and had been suffering from severe spinal cord compression. The problem left him with very weak legs and was unable to walk. This problem ultimately got him bed ridden,” he said.

Earlier the patient was operated two years back from a hospital in Chandigarh, but his problem still remained and even got worsened. He went to various orthopedics and spine surgeons regarding his problems. They all gave him point of no hope from getting recovered from his problem, said Dr Narula.

At last, he visited the Gian Sagar Hospital and got a ray of hope. The patient went through surgery at Gian Sagar spine and joint replacement center in the month of September 2014. The process wasn’t as easy, because he was operated earlier too.

On the third day of the surgery, the patient was able to walk and stand on his own.  Within a week the patient was able to walk and perform his daily activities.
