Rs 584 crore earned from application fee; Auction of liquor vends held peacefully
Ludhiana, March 27, 2015: Today, a total of 744 liquor vends of Ludhiana district were auctioned for the year 2015-16 for a whopping Rs 7,64,44,46,505, which is Rs 53,39,21,322 (7.51%) more than last year 2014-15. The auction of these liquor vends was held at Harsheela Resorts, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal.
The liquor vends falling within the municipal limits were auctioned for Rs 5,04,08,93,745, the vends falling under Ludhiana-1 were auctioned for Rs 1,06,88,81,215, vends falling in Ludhiana-2 were auctioned for Rs 91,80,70,660 and the vends falling in Ludhiana-3 were auctioned for Rs 61,66,00,885. It is pertinent to mention that last year 2014-15, the auction of 744 liquor vends was held for Rs 7,11,05,25,183.
Rajat Agarwal informed that for the year 2015-16, there are a total of 744 liquor vends of country and IMFL. He informed that the quota for country liquor is 1,85,15,245 proof litre while for IMFL is 1,09,33,102 proof litre and for Beer is 67,55,901 bulk litre.
It is pertinent to mention that for the auction held today, a total of 8,056 applications were received from which a fee of Rs 58,40,15,000 was received which is 5.21% more than last year. Last year, a fee of Rs 55,50,10,000 was received from 10,399 applications.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Financial Commissioner D P Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal, Additional Excise and Taxation Officer Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon, DETC Amrit Kaur Gill, besides several others.
