Ludhiana, February 1, 2017: 84 Model Polling Stations will be prepared in all the 14 constituencies of Ludhiana in the upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections 2017 where the many more facilities like the proper arrangement and better environment will be provided besides the basic minimum facilities desired by the Election Commission of India (water, electricity, shed, ramp and toilets). Regarding this, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Sh.Ravi Bhagat told that all the returning officers have been instructed for the election arrangements scheduled on 4 February. A total of 1385 venues and 2720 polling stations are being prepared to cast vote in Ludhiana. Out of them 84 will be modal polling stations.

Details of modal polling stations constituency wise

Describing the detail Sh. Bhagat told that in constituency Khanna, all the four modal polling stations in A.S.Girls College, Amloh Road, in constituency Samrala, all the five Modal polling stations in Govt. Sr. Sec. School (boys and girls), in constituency Sahnewal, five modal stations are in U.S.P.C. Jain Public School, Urban Estate Phase 2 Jamalpur, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Mundian, Govt. Primary School, Jandiali and Govt. High School Sahnewal, in constituency Ludhiana East three modal polling stations are in B.C.M. Sr. Sec. School, sector 32, and five polling stations are in B.C.M. college of education, Chandigarh road, in constituency Ludhiana South, four polling stations are in Spring Dale Public School, Sherpur Kalan, one polling station has been set up in Everest Public School, Moti Nagar.

In constituency Atam Nagar, modal polling station have been set up in Govt. Elementary school primary block Nehru Memorial Gill Road, Senior Citizen home phase 1 Dugri, Swami Vivekanand Old Age Ashram Model Town Extension, Atam Public School Atam Nagar, and Community Centre Atam Nagar.

In constituency Ludhiana South, two modal polling stations are in Ramgaria Senior Higher Secondary School and four are in Holy Path co education society new Madhopuri.

In constituency Ludhiana (West), three polling stations are in Govt. Polytechnic college for women Rishi Nagar, two polling stations are in govt. Sen.sec. school. Punjab Agriculture University, three polling stations at Kundan Vidya Mandir, one in Bharti Vidya Mandir udham singh nagar, and three polling stations have been set up in Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar. In constituency Ludhiana central all the five polling stations have been set up in Rajindera Modal Sr. Sec. School, Haibowal Kalan.

In constituency Gill, one polling station is in govt. Middle school Talwandi, two polling stations at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Saiyan Kalan, one at govt. Middle school Salempur, one at govt. Primary school Dulay, two have been established at govt. Primary school Bulara. In constituency Payal, one polling station is at khalsa girls high school Doraha, one polling centre at govt. Sr. Sec. Kaddon, one at govt. Sr. Sec. School, Payal, one at govt. Elementary school Saharanmajra and two are at govt. Elementary school Lapra.

In constituency Dakha, one station at govt. High school, Mandi Mullanpur, one at govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sarabha, one at govt. Girls sr. Sec. School, Dakha, one at govt. Sr. Sec. School,

Bhundri, and one have been set up at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sohia.

In constituency Raikot, three polling stations have been established at govt. Primary school (girls) Sudhar, one at Govt. Sr. Sec. School Barundi, one at Modern Sr. Sec. School Raikot and one has been established at Municipal Council Office Raikot.

Besides, one modal polling centre has been made in govt. High school Malak, Govt. Sr. Sec. School Sidhwa Kalan, Govt. Sr. Sec. School Boys, Jagraon, Sanmati Vimal Chand Jain Sr. Sec. School, Jagraon and Sant Mahapragya School Jagraon.

Extra facilities to be provided in the Modal Polling Stations

Sh. Bhagat told that in these modal polling stations the facilities of different route map, ramp facility, better furniture, waiting room, help desk, proper line arrangements, direction indicators, wheel chairs with volunteers, volunteers for the aged and differently abled, water facility for the people in queue, selfie points, toffes, demarcation of lines with whitewash, flags, waiting area for the voters to sit, good tent, red carpets, information related to the constituency, whitewashing of buildings, first aid, priority to the aged and the differently abled ones, video coverage and rangoli will be provided besides the basic minimum facilities. He further clarified that it would be up to the level of the returning officer to provide any extra facility mentioned above in the polling centres.

Minimum Basic Facilities would be provided in other polling stations too

He told that according to the instructions issued by the honourable Election Commission of India, basic minimum facilites will surely be provided to each polling station. These facilities will include Electricity, water, toilets, shed and ramp. He further told that besides this, all the Returning Officers have been instructed to provide the maximum number of facilities to the voters to avoid any type of inconvenience.

He informed that each polling station would include one presiding officer, one assistant presiding officer and two polling officers. All the members on election duty will made necessary arrangements on 3 januray regarding Election process. All the Returning Officers have also been instructed to do necessary arrangements for the accommodation and other necessities for the polling staff. Agents of political parties have been instructed that they would not use any type of tent inside the boundary of 200 metres from polling station. Outside this boundary too, they can have the arrangements of chair, tables according to the instructions given by Election Commission. Ravi Bhagat instructed all the Returning Officers that they themselves would visit all the polling stations and do all the necessary arrangements before the day of voting.
