Players in action on the opening day of the 9th All India Balwant Singh Kapoor Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium at Jalandhar on Sunday.
Jalandhar, December 16, 2012: Govt. Sr Sec School Jarkhar (Ludhiana) and Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Sr. Sec. School Khadoor Sahib won their opening encounters on the opening day of the 9th All India Balwant Singh Kapoor Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. Earlier, tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Khem Singh Gill, ex-VC, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana.
In the opening match in Pool A, Govt. Sr Sec School Jarkhar thrashed Mehta Gurukul public School Doraha by 6-0. At half time, winners were leading by 3-0. For winners Lovejeet Singh scored three Goals (23rd, 60th and 69th minutes), Joginder Singh scored two (26th and 33rd minutes) and Soni Ram in 51st minute of the play.
In the second match in Pool B, G.G SV.M Sr Sec School Ratwara Sahib beat Spring Dale School Amritsar via tie Breaker by 6-4. At the end of the full time both teams were locked at 3-3. For Ratwara Sahib Gursewak Singh in 27th minute, Arvinder Singh in 29th minute, Jaikaran Singh in 47th minutes of the play. For Amritsar Harmanjit Singh scored in 32nd minute, Harshpreet Singh in 58th and Amritpal Singh equalised in 63rd minute of the play.
In the third match in Pool C, B.G.S.U.S School Khadoor Sahib beat Govt Raj School Sangrur by 6-0. For winners Navraj Singh scored in 13th and 58th minute, Narinder Pal Singh in 9th minute, Sumeetpal Singh in 33rd minute, Gurbinder Singh in 60th minute and one self-goal scored in the 16th minute of the play.
