Ludhiana, August 15, 2013: The Aam Aadmi Party held a flag hoisting ceremony to mark the 67thIndependence Day Celebrations at Feroze Gandhi Market today.

To mark the occasion, the tri-color was unfurled by the underprivileged kids of the locality alongwith the women members of the AAP.

A Kite flying contest was also organised by the District Unit of the Aam Aadmi Party. Colorful kites bearing patriotic slogans were flown high signifying the hope of the common man to fly high across the skies unperturbed by all the problems that he faces everyday due to the poor governance in this country today. What was most remarkable was that not only children, it was the adult volunteers, even those in their 60s and above who were most enthusiastic in the kite flying competition and tried to outdo the youngsters.

Addressing the huge crowd gathered there, Kanav Vats, District Spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party said: “We, the citizens of Ludhiana, pledged ourselves this historic day to wholeheartedly fight the ills prevailing in our society today. We will make sure we achieve “poorna swaraj” (complete independence) by ensuring that the decision making authority rests with the Aam Aadmi (common man) of this country and not with its corrupt politicians.”

Also present on the occasion were Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab State Convener, Balbir Aggarwal, District Secretary, Sandeep Singla, Ajay Mittal, Usha Tyagi and other Executive Members and volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party.
