Ferozepur, October 23, 2012: Keeping in view the festivals of Dasehra and Diwali, the health department conducted surprise raids at various places in Ferozepur City and Cantt areas.  The raid was conducted at the very famous shop “Bhagat Ji Ki Dukaan” under a special drive launched under the banner of “Purity is our symbol”, to check the hygiene and quality of the eatables, particularly sweets, ahead of the festivals, at  a very high prices.  The sample report has been found to sub-standard with hair as foreign matter.

As per the information gathered from Food Security Officer, Ferozepur, as per the analysis of the sample of “sponge rasgulla” taken from Bhagat Ji Ki Dukaan, the same has been found to be filthy and sub-standard beside recovery of 3.8 cm long hair.  He further said, a notice has been issued to Ritesh Goyal son of Harish Goyal with one month notice and during this period, he could get the sample re-analysed, if he wants to do so otherwise the action will be initiated for finding sub-standard material in the sample.  He also said, a few days back, the recovery of adulterated “Khoya” (spurious milk product) has been found also of Bhagat Ji Ki Dukaan, for which investigation is going on.

To keep a tab on such malpractices, raid will be conducted on a regular basis, he added.
