AHA accredited BLS  & ACLS course conducted

Ludhiana, February 17, 2017: Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation organized three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) with a batch of 50 participants from all specialties from February 17 to 19.
The training was conducted by Professor & Head of Anaesthesiology- Dr Sunil Katyal and Dr Anju Grewal, who is Professor of Anaesthesiology and Co-ordinator, DMCH AHA Training Site, along with AHA-accredited BLS & ACLS Instructors under the supervision, monitoring and coordination of International Training Centers and Life Savers Association, Delhi
The department had so far successfully organized around 50 AHA and non-AHA BLS and ACLS healthcare provider courses.
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri emphasized on the importance of acquiring standardized universally accepted life-saving skills, which should be made mandatory for all doctors, especially anaesthesiologists, cardiologists, emergency room doctors, critical-care specialists, interns and nursing staff.
Dr Sunil Katyal, Course Director & Dr Anju Grewal said that the ACLS training programmes facilitate in recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions, thereby help in preventing cardiac arrests. They also enhance provider skills in early recognition and prompt coordinated management of victims in cases of cardiac arrest
Dr Vivek Gupta, Associate Co-ordinator AHA Course elaborated that Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR),which is a combination of BLS and ACLS is an important life-saving emergency first-aid skill practiced throughout the world for an unconscious victim on whom breathing and pulse can not be detected.
All AHA instructors including Dr Mirely Rupinder Singh, Dr Shikha Gupta, Dr Kanwalpreet Sodhi, Dr Harjinder Kohli and all co-AHA instructors actively trained all delegates in the skills of Adults, child and Infant CPR
