Ahead of Assembly Polls, Police tighten noose of illicit liquor brewers in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, January 10, 2017: Tightening the noose of illicit liquor brewing ahead of election season, the police has seized huge quantity of country made liquor in Ferozepur. As per information available 1,20,400 litre country made liquor (Lahan) and 535 bottles of illicit liquor have been recovered by the police in various incidents with in twenty four hour. Gaurav Garg, SSP, Ferozepur said that in first case, the police have arrested six persons identified as Kala Singh, Vir Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Ramesh Singh, Kala Singh, Gurnam Singh, all residents of Village Ali Ke and recovered 1,20,000 litre lahan from them near village Habib Ke, situated along side Sutlej. The SSP said that several cases have already been registered against these culprits at various police stations.

In other incident, the police recovered 400 litre lahan and 300 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested three persons identified as Bagga Singh, Nanak Singh and Rulia Singh, all resident of Village Jhugge Nihanga Wale in Ferozepur. Two more persons identified as Sukhwinder Singh and Jangir Singh, residents of Village Jhuge Nihanga Wale were arrested from Village Khooh Mohar Singh Wala.

One more person identified as Raj Singh, a resident of Basti Bagh Wali in Ferozepur was arrested and 80 bottles illicit liquor was recovered from him near Polytechnic college in Ferozepur. In an another incident, one more person identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Ferozepur city was arrested by police and 55 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered from him.
