All India State Bank of Patiala Employees Federation holds its First Youth Convention and General Body Meeting

Ludhiana, March 19, 2017: All India State Bank of Patiala Employees Federation today held its First Youth Convention and General Body Meeting at Sartaj Palace, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana. Com. C H Venkatachalam, General Secretary, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) inaugurated the Convention. Com. Atul Anjan, General Secretary, Bhartiya Kisan Sabha was the Chief Guest. Com. S K Gautam, Joint Secretary and Com. Rajesh Bansal, Joint Treasurer, AIBEA were the Guests of Honour. Com. Jagdish Sharma, President, AISBOPEF, Com. Amrit Lal, Chairman, Punjab Bank Employees Federation, Com. M S Dhaliwal, General Secretary All India Trade Union Congress, Com. Naresh Gaur, General Secretary, AISBOPEF and other Prominent leaders also addressed the bank employees. More than 1200 employees from all over the country attended this Convention & General Body Meeting.

While inaugurating the Convention, Com. Venkatachalam congratulated AISBOPEF for organizing this youth convention. AISBOPEF is always our front ranking unit under the banner of AIBEA and always in the for front in implementing the decisions of AIBEA. Looking to the large number of young people who have joined the bank in the recent year, AIBEA decided to bring them closer to the organization and to synchronise the organization with their hopes and aspirations. AIBEA held a big youth convention in Hyderabad two years ago and it was big success. It revealed that the young employees are no less committed to trade unions. Now we are holding conventions in different banks in different states. I am happy there is large participation in this convention today. My congratulations to the unions and all the young participants.

This convention is being held at a very important time when soo many developments are taking place around us. You all joined this bank with great expectations with bright career but unfortunately in another ten days this bank will not be there. It will be closed down and you all will be employees of another bank. WHY? Are you responsible for this? Have we not done our jobs properly in the bank? Is the bank not doing well? Why it should be closed or merged. We would like to understand all the issues. I know there will be so many doubts in the minds of the employees when our bank will be merged with another bank. Questions about our future, career, our jobs and job continuity, job security, our service conditions, our trade union rights etc. This conventions is good occasion to get an answer to all these issues but that is only one of the issues that we need to discuss. Recently we had our AIBEA conference in Chennai. It was a massive conference. More than 4000 Employees attended. We have taken so many important decisions. Government’s banking reform policies. Why they want to privatise? S\Why they want merger, Why they encourage private banks, How people are affected, Why union should oppose these policies? All these issues need to be discussed in detail. These policies are part of government economic polices. So we have to talk about that also. We cannot ignore that. Is it good for the country. Is it helpful for growth and development, What is their Economic policy? Issues like price rise, Un-employement, Government Anti-labour policies are of serious nature.

Our great leaders built AIBEA with lot of struggles and sacrifices. Whatever rights they got with so long struggles are at stake now. Today we have so many challenges and the only way to face these challenges is to unite and fight. Role of young employees is much important now. You are the future of this country, the future of AIBEA. We have lot of hopes on you and we are sure that in the coming days, youths will be coming forward unitedly and strongly to fight and give a setback to the Anti-labour, Anti-people policies of the government. On the other hand, all of you will also strengthen AIBEA and fight for our trade union rights. LONG LIVE AIBEA.

Com. Atul Anjan while congratulating the employees said that AISBOPEF is strongly fighting against the Govt. anti people policies. Poverty in our country is on higher side. The country is run by policies not by leaders. People die of starvation, women die due to lack of medical facilities. Govt. said that 15 lac rupees will come into account of everyone. Where is that now? No one will speak against Malya and Modi. Our culture must be progressive. This economic growth is growing imbalance. Youths are to fight against these policies of Govt. strongly. People spend huge amounts on education of their children. But youth not getting job. Everything is being privatized. Govt, says development is there. But whose development is there? Country’s future on youths. AIBEA has its own history. Strengthen your organization. Take common man with you in this struggle. Punjab is the land of fighters. Fight against injustice.
