Amul launches pouch milk in Punjab

Amritsar, April 6, 2015:  Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the leading producer of milk under the brand name Amul, announced the launch of its operations in Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur & Batala towns of Punjab. Amul has been an outstanding example of the power of farmer’s cooperative movement born way back in 1946, before India gained freedom. Amul has now become a household name and all Indians have tasted Amul products at different phases of their life.

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd., the marketer of Amul Brand, which sells 105 Lakh Litres per day of Pouch Milk across India, is launching Pouch Milk in Punjab with an objective of reaching out to the 2 million strong population of Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur & Batala towns.

R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF said, “We have identified Punjab as an opportune market for our Fresh Product offerings. We would be selling Pouch Milk to the consumers of Punjab who are brand conscious and are willing to associate themselves with the strong brand name of Amul. We would be offering our best quality fresh products at affordable prices to consumers in Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur & Batala towns of Punjab. Amul is looking to garner a market share of 20% in above markets”.

With this development, Amul will now be present in Punjab along with Gujarat, Delhi & NCR, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Goa. ‘Amul’ is No. 1 brands in all major markets including metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

Amul would be marketing Milk at economical price of Rs.48 per litre for Amul Gold Full Cream Milk, Rs.42 per litre of Amul Shakti Standardise milk and Double Toned Milk “Amul Slim-n-Trim” at Rs. 34 per Litre.
