Army launches anti-polythene drive

Ferzepur, August 13, 2012 : Indian Army launched an anti polythene drive, the first of its kind, to make Ferozepur Cantonment free of plastic.

The campaign will prove very useful in creating awareness regarding eliminating the use of polythene bags and maintaining the ecological balance.  With its non-bio degradable nature, polythene has become a threat to the safety of human health, cattle, wildlife, crops and the entire environment.

The  drive received tremendous response from the Army as well as civil population.  As part of the campaign, volunteers managed to dispose off the plastic wastes in an eco-friendly manner.

An appeal to the local population was made to shift over immediately to paper and jute bags, keeping in view the disastrous effects of polythene on the health of all living beings.
