Badal Enhances Limit Of Life Insurance Amount From Rs.4.80 Lakh To Rs.10 Lakh For Advocates

Chandigarh, April 30, 2016: Conceding a major demand of the legal fraternity, Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Baal today announced to enhance the amount of Life Insurance for the Advocates from Rs.4.80 lakh to Rs.10 lakh.
Speaking at a function organized by the Bar Council of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh to hand over the licenses to 200 advocates to enable them to practice in courts, Mr.Badal said that the Ordinance with regard to the enhanced limit of life insurance amount would be issued soon so that the benefit could reach them. He has directed the Advocate General to complete the required formalities at the earliest. Besides this the Chief Minister also announced to provide flats or allot suitable land for the Housing Societies construction of dwelling units for them in Mohali.
The Chief Minister called upon the legal fraternity to play a proactive role in the society as judiciary, executive and legislature were the important organs of the state and had an obligation both to the Constitution and people to work in complete harmony.
Addressing the Lawyers, Mr. Badal said that lawyers could play a vital role in getting justice and protection of one’s fundamental rights because access to justice was a constitutional obligation. He also exhorted the legal fraternity, especially the younger Lawyers, to discharge their duties with utmost professional commitment, dedication and sincerity in the larger public interest. He said that judiciary, legislature, members of the Bar, legal academia and scholars must be actively engaged in finding meaningful and widely acceptable solutions to the social challenges of our times.
Terming his hard work and commitment as his motto in his long political, Mr. Badal said that he started his career as a Sarpanch and due to his complete dedication to the service of the people he has reached at the pinnacle of his political carrer. He said that whenever he was given the responsibilities as the state Chief Minister, he gave the top most priority to lend a generous hearing in the form of “Sangat Darshans” so as to resolve and problems and grievances of the people.
The Chief Minister also said that the government has set up judicial complexes in the state at a cost of Rs. 220 crore. To protect the rights of the legal fraternity, the Punjab government has initiated Advocate Welfare Fund for which the state contributed one Crore as the Corpus Fund.
Advocate General Punjab Mr. Ashok Aggarwal, welcomed the Chief Minister and exhorted the new Lawyers to work with complete dedication and devotion.
Speaking on the occasion, President Punjab and Haryana Bar Association, Mr. Harpreet Singh Brar expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for showing exceptional generosity towards legal fraternity. Terming Mr. Badal as the “Leader of the masses”, he said that the farsighted leader was always eager to address the grievances of the people. Mr. Badal’s popularity as a mass leader was evident from the fact that he has adorned the seat of Chief Minister of Punjab for a record fifth term.
The function was attended by members of the Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association & Bar council and lawyers besides Advocate General of Haryana Mr. Baldev Raj Mahajan and Chairman Bar Council Mr. Rajat Gautam.
