BEGINNING: Lions Quest organises teachers training workshop

Ferozepur, October 20, 2012: For the first time in Feorzepur, three days Teachers Training Workshop was organised by Lions Club, Feorozepur, as one of the major projects of Lions International, under the leadership of Rajesh Malhotra, Region Chairman.

In this training workshop, 40 teachers from the different schools of the district participated, to implement this programme in selected schools.

Deepak Sharma, organiser said, in this three days’ Teachers Training Workshop, Nidhi Nagrath has specially been deputed by Lions Foundation, Mumbai to give training of skills for living, based on the philosophy of partnering the family, school and local community with special reference to  adolescence stage of life of students.

Speaking on the occasion, S. P. Anand Project Chairman said, Lions Quest believes the most effective way to implement positive youth development programmes and bring about lasting improvements in school climate is to equip educators with current research, materials and strategies for addressing critical issues facing youth.

He further said that more than 26 years ago, Lions Quest embraced the idea of comprehensive youth development in order to help children grow in a positive direction, free from the dangers of drugs and violence. The programmes are value based, emphasising the core positive values of self-discipline, responsibility, healthy living, volunteer service and commitment to family, school, peers and the community.

To make this programme a success, Birinder Singh Sohal, District Chairman, Ludiana, S. P. Anand, Project Chairman, Dr. Awtar Singh, secretary, Surinder Sharma, Principal, were present.
