Dharamshala, September 21, 2017: BJP will start its election campaign of Himachal from holy town Kangra in ‘Navratras’ on 22nd September, when its national president Amit Shah will address here the ‘Hunkaar’ rally for youth. This shall be the first step of BJP towards the preparations for coming elections in the poll-bound state of Himachal Pradesh to recapture the power in this hill state which is being ruled at the moment by Congress. BJP is in election mode since April in Himachal, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the mode by holding a rally in Shimla.

Today, the Union Health Minister J P Nadda, state in charge of BJP Mangal Pandey and the BJP MP of the area ex CM Shanta Kumar visited the rally site MC Ground Kangra to look after the arrangements there. Nadda said that BJP will soon declare the list of candidates for Himachal elections, and only those will be considered who has the winning potential. Nadda said, "This rally of Kangra shall be historic one, as the youth of the state is fully charged up for the elections.” Minister said the youth are annoyed with present government of the state for getting the promises fulfilled ,made towards the youth by congress .

Nadda said, "PM Modi’s visit to the area is under consideration and he might address a rally at Dharamshala very soon.”

In the current Assembly, the Congress holds 36 of the 68 seats while the BJP holds 26, and BJP is confident enough of regaining power after five years of Congress rule. After approach to success in the name of PM Modi in states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Haryana,BJP is also relying on the same factor, though for the first time in Himachal.

Since 1990, power in Himachal has alternated between the Congress and the BJP. In 2012 Congress captured the power from BJP and in 2014 showed its power again by winning all four Lok Sabha seats with 53 per cent of the vote. In April this year too BJP won the Bhoranj Assembly bypoll, and then, in June, it won 17 of the 34 seats in the Shimla Municipal Corporation polls, just one short of a clear majority.

On the other, hand Virbhadra Singh-led Congress in the state is very confident to create a record by ruling the state twice in a row.
