Brave police officials commemorated at Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 21, 2014: On 21st October every year, commemoration parades are held in all police units as a mark of respect to brave police martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. To pay the homage to those brave souls who laid down their lives at the call of duty, Police Commemoration Day was celebrated at Police Lines here today. Munish Chawla, DIG Ferozepur Range presided over the function.

The DIG paid rich tribute to the police martyrs and invited the police forces to come forward for service to the people by dedicating themselves with more devotion by getting inspiration from the martyrs. He said, Punjab has a dignified history of sacrifices to maintain the unity, integrity and brotherhood. The police having proud of its heritage and play a vital role in performing of its duty diligently to maintain the internal security, he added. While SSP Sukhwant Singh Gill, said on this occasion that the real tribute to the martyrs on this day is to be ready to any kind of sacrifice by following the path shown by them to maintain unity, integrity and peace.

As a mark of respect to the martyrs,  the police officials, para-military officials, judicial and civil administration, observed two minutes silence, to pay condolence  for their bravery and resultant sacrifice.

The police unit also reversed their arms in the honour of departed souls and the names of police martyrs of states, police and paramilitary forces were also read out, to acknowledge with pride the supreme sacrifices made by them. Besides, the family members of police martyrs from Ferozepur were also honoured.

Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Vivek Puri, District & Sessions Judge, Lakhbir Singh, SP(H) and Ravi Awasthi, Commandant Punjab Home Guards besides good number of police and civil officials were also present there.
