British experts foresee Punjab as next global fashion hub

Chandigarh, April 27, 2015: Dr Sharon Harper, a leading international Fashion photographer and faculty member of from University of Gloucestershire described Punjab as next global fashion hub with international Media focusing on increasing consumerism and demand for fashion products in this tiny border state.

Delivering address for NIIFT Harper said that students from region are lucky to cover vast diversity right from ethnic fashion to Italian fashion and create a real blend between ethnicity and emerging trends in fashion. She said that her camera was in love with multi-hued culture of Punjab full of vibrant and loud colors that are out to attract attention of every one.

Acknowledging growing emergence of India as a hub of global fashion industry especially fashion photography, leading experts in the field of fashion photography today exchanged views with the students of Northern India Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIIFT).

Stating this, an official spokesperson said that Dr. Sharon Harper and Bill Bur ford from the University of Gloucestershire were interacting with the students of NIIFT on ‘’Fashion Photography and Landscape Architecture’’ at NIIFT campus, Mohali.

During the interaction Dr. Sharon Harper, also Senior Lecturer in Media Theory and Contextual Studies (Centre of Art and Photography) told the NIIFT students about the latest trends in fashion photography with the help of audio-visual aids. She also briefed the students about the unlimited opportunities that the field of fashion photography offers in today’s era. She said that because of today’s young generation becoming fashion conscious, every connected with the fashion field, whether fashion designing or fashion photography, has become a viable career option now a days.

An expert in sphere of Landscape Architecture, Bill Bur ford, Senior Lecturer in Art and Design, stressed to the students the importance of keeping ecology uppermost while designing community parks or gardens.

On the occasion, Director of NIIFT, K.S. Brar emphasized the importance of having long term academic interaction with the foreign universities to give NIIFT students international exposure.

On the occasion, Dr. Simrita Singh, Assistant Professor, Fashion Design Department, Registrar NIIFT Inderjeet Singh and Assistant Registrar Madan Lal were also present.
