New Delhi/Jalandhar, January 21, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy Drugs Controller, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Zonal Office, S.R.Nagar, Hyderabad for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the Complainant.           

A case was registered on January 20 this year U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 based on the complaint against Deputy Drugs Controller, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Zonal Office, S.R.Nagar, Hyderabad, for demanding an alleged bribe of Rs.1,00,000 for renewal of licence of the blood bank of Complainant.  

CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding & accepting an illegal gratification of Rs. 50,000 as first installment out of total demand of Rs. 1,00,000 from the complainant.  

Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused and recovered huge cash of Rs. 27,00,000 apart from gold jewellery & property documents.

The arrested accused was produced today before the Special Judge, Hyderabad and remanded to Judicial Custody.
