Ten Media Teams To Slug It Out In 5- A-Side Football Tourney
Chandigarh, February 10, 2017: Kickstart Inter Media Five-a-Side football tournament, being organized by Chandigarh Press Club in collaboration with The British School, Sec 44 B, Chandigarh & Kickstart Football Club(KFC) will be played on KFC’s first Astro-Turf stadium in tricity, established in The British School, Chandigarh, premises on February 12 from 9 am onwards.
“The tournament has been initiated by the Chandigarh Press Club as part of its ongoing motive of making sports a part & parcel of lifestyle of members’, who are all working journalists in different media groups. I am sure that the outing will be one that will provide a sporting environment which is both healthy & full of fun.” Said Jaswant Rana, President, Chandigarh Press Club. Three Referees are being provided by Chandigarh Football Association for smooth conduct of the one day tournament. “We will be providing all the infrastructure support to the media teams. It is a matter of pride for us that we are hosting the tournament in our School’s premises.” Said Ranjan Sethi, Director, The British School, Chandigarh.
Ten media teams have registered for the tourney. These have been divided into two Pools A & B. Match Fixtures have also been finalized. Pool A comprises of Tribune Administration, Punjab Kesari, Tribune Proof Reading, Press Club & HJCC. Pool B is made of Tribune Advertising, Tribune Newsroom, Dainik & Punjabi Tribune (Single team), Chandigarh Tribune & Dainik Bhaskar.
“The tournament will be played on a Knock-out-basis & will see Rolling Substitution. In case of a draw, match will be decided on tie-breaker – which will comprise of three (3) spot kicks (Penalty) for each team. There will be ‘No offside’ rule. “Said Surinder Kumar, General Secretary, Chandigarh Football Association (CFA)
The fixtures have been finalized. Tribune Administration team has got a Bye in Pool A and Dainik Bhaskar in Pool B. Match 1 will see Punjab Kesari lock horns with Tribune Proof Reading, Match 2 will be between Chandigarh Tribune and (Dainik & Punjabi Tribune), Match 3 will be between Press Club & HJCC, Match 4 is scheduled between Tribune Advertising & Tribune Newsroom, Match 5 will be between Winner of match 1 & Tribune Administration who got a Bye in Pool A and Match 6 will see winner of Match 2 fight it out against Dainik Bhaskar who got a Bye in Pool B. The Semifinals will be between Winner of Match 3 and Winner of Match 5 & winner of Match 4 and Winner of Match 6 will play the second semi final. After the finals the prize distribution ceremony has been planned.
