CI Wing nabs drug smuggler, recovers heroin and cash

Ferozepur, December 7, 2017: The Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police (Ferozepur) achieved major success today and nabbed one drug smuggler identified as Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Basti Ram Lal. The sleuths belonging to CI Wing recovered 265 grams of heroin and cash worth Rs.13.70 lakh besides a Maruti Swift Car (No.PB05 KU 1513) was also recovered.
Giving details, Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, AIG, CI Wing, Ferozepur said that the sleuths belonging to the CI Wing had received specific inputs following which a special patrol team had gone towards Village Wahka from Village Attari. “As soon as the patrol team reached Village Vakeela Wali, it saw a Swift car. As soon as the driver saw the police team, it tried to take a U-turn. However, he was nabbed by the officials of CI Wing. During the checking 265 grams of heroin was recovered from right pocket of his pant which he was wearing. The heroin was wrapped in plastic cover. Besides, cash worth Rs.13.70 lakh was also recovered from his car”, said AIG Sidhu.

The AIG said that during the preliminary interrogation, Gurwinder has accepted that he was involved in drug trade for the last six months.
A case under Sections 21/25/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at State Special Operation Cell, Fazilka.
