Ludhiana, May 27, 2017: Ludhiana, May 27, 2017: A special industrial interaction was held with Sh.Rana Gurjit Singh, Minister of Irrigation and Power, Government of Punjab at his residence regarding UUE and other related issues to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited on 26th May, 2017.
The CICU delegate comprising of Sh.Manmohan Singh Ubhi, Sh.Daljit Singh Dico, Sh.Surinder Singh, Sh.Iqbal Singh Sonu, Sh.Harsimranjit Singh, Sh.Shasheesh Saini submitted CICU memorandum mentioning detail issues of PSPCL with Industries along with request for revision of policies for benefit of MSME.

Few important points discussed & focused are as under:

• Prevailing Medium Power Connection limit of 100 KVA should be revised to 150 KVA for the benefit of SMEs.
• Punjab State Power Corporation is providing power to new Industry at concessional rate of Rs. 5 per unit, whereas existing industry is being charged at regular rate of Rs. 8 per unit. Punjab State Power Corporation had imposed 5% Cess as Infrastructure Development on Sale of Power to all consumers in the State. PSPCL is already collecting 13% Excise Duty from consumers on their power bill instead of helping power consumers at the time of inflation PSPCL is imposing heavy taxes without any reason.
• Tiny industrial units are operating in R-Zone/Mix Land Use Area since long. It is requested that those units, which are running under commercial category should be entitled to industrial connections. Their existing connections may be converted to industrial category to decrease the burden on industry. No Restrictions of NOC be imposed.
• Maintenance of Industrial Sub Stations and Feeder Lines which are very old should be upgraded and modernized to avoid frequent break downs, especially; in Focal Point Area, Ludhiana.

CICU Appreciated the Spontaneous action taken on the command of Sh. Rana Gurjit Singh, Minister of Irrigation and Power and was asked from the Concern departments to submit their report for action.
