CICU Launched Mass Plantation Campaign

Ludhiana, August 10, 2012: Bhawna Garg, Special Secretary Science, Technology and Environment Punjab and Ravinder Singh, Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board inaugurated the mass plantation drive at CICU Complex here on Thursday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, they highlighted the importance of planting saplings for a clean and green environment.

Garg appealed the industry to cooperate with government departments to make the city clean and green.

Ravinder Singh announced that complete instruction manual regarding pollution norms would be printed shortly. He further announced that PPCB had already recommended for grant of site clearance by plating units in designated areas with investment limit on plant and machinery upto Rs.15 lac.

Adding, Singh said electromagnetic flow meter was mandatory only for those industrial units violating pollution norms. Mobil oil after use in generators could be used in machinery in respective units where there was no mismatch which would help the green category industry to get rid of consent for hazardous waste.

Further, Singh said permission for reuse of generator lubricants could be obtained from PPCB Engineer for initial five years on renewal basis. 

Inderjit Singh Pardhan, President, CICU presented memorandum to both Garg and Singh. He announced that industrial units following best practices to control pollution would be encouraged by CICU by giving awards.

The meeting was attended by prominent industrialists K.K. Seth, S.K. Lakra, Phuman Singh, Inderjit Nagpal, Ram Labhaya, T.R. Mishra, S.M. Mehta, Jaswinder Singh Birdi, Joga Singh, Lalit Sharma Member PPCB, Manmohan Singh Ubhi and others.
