CMC Conducts the 35th Lobo Memorial Oration

Ludhiana, October 7, 2017: Every year, CMC conducts the annual Lobo Memorial Oration, organized by the Dr L H Lobo Memorial Trust in memory of Professor Lionel H Lobo. Dr Lobo was the first Indian Principal of CMC Ludhiana and an eminent Orthopedic surgeon.

This year’s academic program was co-hosted by the Department of Pediatrics and the oration was delivered by Prof Varinder Singh, Director Professor of Pediatrics at Kalawati Saran Children’s hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. The oration was titled ‘Is the future of Child Health in Pediatric subspecialities?’ where in Prof Singh spoke about the future of the subject of child health, with a special focus of development of specialisations. The oration was attended by students, teachers and pediatricians from various cities of Punjab.

Dr.Abraham G Thomas, Director of CMC also addressed the gathering and welcomed the speakers and delegates. The event was also presided over by DrTejinder Singh, Principal CMC and Dr William Bhatti, Medical Superintendent, CMC. DrNavneet Chaudhry, the Honorary Secretary of the Lobo Memorial trust, DrManinderjit Singh, President of the trust as well as several eminent citizens of Ludhiana and executive members of the trust were present for the occasion.

Dr Jugesh Chhatwal, Professor and Head of Department of Pediatrics,CMC, the organizing chairperson of the event informs that the symposium included talks on important and confusing health problems that pediatricians face while treating children. Speakers included DrEmy Thomas, from CMC, who spoke about atopic dermatitis in children, Dr Joseph Mathew from PGIMER, Chandigarh, who spoke about Difficult to treat pneumonias and Dr Vineet Sehgal, who spoke about Allergic Rhinitis. Dr Daljit Singh and pediatricians from prestigious institutes in Ludhiana, deliberated about Recent advances in Immunization for children.
