Dharamshala, August 16, 2017: In-charge of party affairs of Congress in Himachal Pradesh, 76-years-old ex-Minister Sushil Kumar Sambhajirao Shinde reached Dharamshala on two-day tour to Kangra today. Beside other partymen he was received by CM Himachal Virbhadra Singh.
Shinde said, “The people of the country are pestered by the failures of the BJP led central government. Congress is the only party which can lead the states and the centre to the right direction of progress.” Shinde said that the people will reject BJP in the coming state elections. He said that Congress is all set to repeat in Himachal.
Shinde, former Union Home Minister and General Secretary, AICC during his presidential address talked very high of the Chief Minister and said that the State made an overall rapid and sustainable progress under various regimes of Virbhadra Singh. He exuded confidence that Congress would repeat in the State with thumping majority and BJP would not be seen anywhere in the fray.
He said that it was for the second time that he had been given the responsibility of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, it was in 1992 and Virbhadra Singh formed the government in the State with high majority. He expressed hope that the Congress would again be in the service of the people of the state.
All India Congress Secretary, Ranjeet Ranjan, who was also accompanying Shinde said, “Modi government did not take a single public interest decision during their three and a half year rule of the nation. Modi promised to bring back the black money by demonetization has as flopped miserably.” She said that the present government is instrumental is the escape of bank cheater Vijay Malya. She said that the BJP was the main agency in the break of Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, she also questioned the role of BJP led Haryana government in midnight lady chase of Chandigarh recently.
Speaking in the party workers meet Virbhadra Singh said that the unity in Congress is the need of the hour. He said, though Himachal is a small state it has its own RUTWA (status) in the country.
Virbhadra said, “Back stabbing will not be tolerated at all and the persons involved in such activities will not be spared. Everybody in the state knows the persons who have been working against the interests of the Congress party and the government in Himachal Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister said emphatically that the Congress Party would again make the government in the State with thumping majority. He alleged that the BJP was involved in dividing the State on the basis of caste and creed and playing the politics of lower and upper Himachal and trying to sow the seeds of dissensions.
This is the first visit to Kangra by Shinde who recently replaced Ambika Soni as in-charge of party affairs in Himachal Pradesh.
Sudhir Sharma, local MLA and Urban Development Minister and State Congress President Sukhvinder Sukhu too addressed the public.
Agriculture Minister Sujan Singh Pathania, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bahrmouri, CPS Jagjivan Pal, M.L.A Sanjay Rattan, Ajay Mahajan, Yadvinder Goma and Pawan Kajal and workers across the State were present in the Party Workers Conference.
