CORRUPTION CASE: CBI files chargesheet against 4

Jalandhar, November 30, 2012: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a chargesheet against former Deputy Director (Investigation) of Income Tax and three private persons including a Chartered Accountant U/s 120-B r/w 201, 204, 218 IPC r/w 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

A Case was registered on March 8, 2008 against a Deputy Director (Investigation) of Income Tax and three private persons including a Chartered Accountant U/s 120-B r/w 201, 204, 218 IPC r/w 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988, on the allegation that the Income Tax officer had abused his official position and deleted/diluted the Income Tax Report i.e. Appraisal Report, prepared by him to minimize the tax liabilities of the Private person’s Group of Companies for obtaining pecuniary advantages.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet today.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it.  Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
