Dharamsala, February 25, 2013: Dalai Lama gave a short teaching to an estimated 4,000 devotees at the Tsugla Khang (main Tibetan temple) in Mechleodganj, Dharamsala, on Monday.

He said the `Jataka Tales’ are the series of auspicious stories recounting the previous lives of the Buddha, in both animal and human forms.

“These stories  lead us  towards better Buddhist practice, stating the importance of removing negative thoughts and the use of careful judgement when making decisions”, said Dalai Lama.

Talking about the Dharma, Dalai Lama said,” Dharma is at the very heart of Tibetan culture.”

"To understand the Dharma is more important than the ritual and offering aspect of it," Dalai Lama added.

“If individuals don’t investigate their own actions, this can result in great problems and conflicts”, said Dalai Lama .

Dalai Lamas’ next teachings, shall be on Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment, and be held in Switzerland on April 13 and 14.
