DAVIET LIFTS OVERALL IKG PTU ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL TROPHY FOR RECORD 16TH TIME

Jalandhar, November 9, 2017: DAVIET lifted the overall IKG Punjab Technical University, Zonal Youth Festival Trophy for the record 16th time. The talented students of 16 institutions affiliated to the University participated in as many as 30 events. The commitment to outperform the other contestants to win laurels was visible in their spirited performances of the DAVIETians. The theme of the Zonal youth festival was “Skill India” with the aim of encouraging and enlightening all the participants about the importance of creating skill set to take the nation forward on the path of development.
With their spirited performance DAVIET won the individual trophies in Fine Arts, Theatre and Music along with the overall trophy to emerge victorious. DAVIET students outperformed stiff competition from other colleges and emerged victorious in the events of Group Shabad, Once Act Play, Group Song Indian, Light Vocal Indian, Folk Song, Quiz, Short Story Writing and Rangoli on day One. On Day two the team won gold in Bhangra, Mime and Vaar Singing. The third Day witnessed team DAVIET winning the gold in the events of Western Vocal Group, Poster Making and thus notching a convincing victory with a margin of over sixty points over the team which stood second. Subeg Singh Bhogal, Surbhi Anand and Samar Singh Sidhu were declared the Best Actor, Best Actress and the Best Dancer (Bhangra) respectively.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal of the Institution congratulated all the winners and motivated them not to be complacent. He urged upon them to give their best in the Inter Zonal Youth festival and make the Institution proud. He also appreciated the efforts put in by Ms Risha Sharma, Cultural Officer, Mr Manpreet Singh Bedi, Mr JS Dhillon, Mr Ashish Malhotra, Ms Rainderveer Kaur, Mr Anand Bajaj, Mr Narinder Kumar Sharma, Dr PS Mann and all the faculty incharges of various events for giving their best to realize the aim of winning the Zonal Youth Festival trophy.
