DEOs directed to ensure effective checking at inter-state borders through para military forces

Chandigarh, April 15, 2014: The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer has directed the District Election Officers (DEOs) to review the deployment of para military forces and utilise their services to check the flow of liquor/drugs at inter-state borders. Besides this, 19 officers/officials of different departments have been transferred and a SDE of PWD department has been suspended.
Interacting with media persons, Supreet Singh Gulati, Additional CEO today said that there were telephonic complaints of inter-state liquor smuggling and the CEO taking serious note of it has asked the DEOs to rope in para military forces for effective checking of all types of vehicles at inter-state borders. He said that Punjab has been sanctioned 182 companies of Para military forces and 35 have already reported and remaining 137 were expected to reach the state by April 26.
Gulati informed that the CEO has ordered transfers of 19 officers/officials of different departments after finding them violating MCC. He said that these officers/officials include Surinder Kaur, Head Mistress, GHS (B), village Gill (Ludhiana), Paramjit Kaur, DEO(S), Ludhiana, Ranjit Singh, DEO(E), Ludhiana, Gurbhej Singh, A.G.E, POWERCOM, Rajiv Kumar Verma, SDM, Patti, Ms. Arina Duggal, SDM, Khamano, Rajwant Singh, Inspector/Food & Civil Supply, Balwinder Singh, Lineman, Karamjit Singh, Secretary, Market Committee, Faridkot, Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Society , Dasuya, Vishal Wadhawan, Superintendent, MC, Amritsar, Sohan Singh, DSP, Ajnala, Surjit Singh, Assistant Lineman, Tangra (Amritsar), Ashok Chadha, Deputy Registrar, Agricultural Multi-purpose Services Society Ltd, Sukhjinder Singh Tiwana, Tehsildar, Dera Baba Nanak, Tarsem Singh ASI, Prem Singh, MHC and Sukhdev Singh, Panchayat Officer, Kahnuwan. Besides this, Mr. karan Singh, DTO, Ropar has been directed to not to leave headquarters without the approval of concerned DEO as his wife was representing Shutrana Assembly constituency.
The Additional CEO further said that besides ordering transfer of the DSP Ajnala Mr. Sohan Singh, an enquiry by Executive Magistrate has been recommended.  He said that Punjab DGP has been asked to post Ketan Patil, IPS as ASP Ajnala.
