Ludhiana, August 29, 2013: For setting up and up gradation of Sewerage and Water Supply system in the different cities across the state the Punjab government has approved a comprehensive plan. Under this plan Rs. 545.51 crore for sewerage and Rs. 350.21 crore for water supply projects has been approved for district Ludhiana alone.

Disclosing this here today, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon Public Works Minister, Punjab said that the work on most of the projects have been initiated and the work on remaining projects would be commenced soon. He said that in Ludhiana city the projects of Rs. 290.26 crore for water supply and Rs. 268.50 crore for sewerage were underway. He said that in Khanna sewerage projects worth Rs. 82.20 crore and water supply projects worth Rs. 14.60 lakh were continue similarly in Jagraon the work on sewerage projects worth Rs. 49.68 crore and water supply projects worth Rs. 7.80 crore was also underway.

Dhillon further said that in Samrala projects worth Rs. 13.03 crore for sewerage and Rs. 3.39 crore for water supply were continue whereas for the city Sahnehwal Rs. 54.51 crore has been approved for sewerage and Rs. 14.05 crore for water supply. He said that the city Doraha got Rs. 17.80 crore for sewerage projects and Rs. 5.25 crore for water supply projects. He said that for Payal Rs. 6.65 crore for sewerage projects and Rs. 3.45 crore for water supply projects has been sanctioned. He said that Mullanpur Dakhan has got Rs. 8 crore for sewerage projects whereas Rs. 2 crore has been sanctioned for water supply projects. He said that for Machiwara Rs. 18.49 crore for sewerage projects and Rs. 1.31 crore for water supply projects has been sanctioned. He said that Maloud has got Rs. 9.30 crore for sewerage projects whereas Rs. 2.70 crore has been sanctioned for water supply projects. He said that Raikot has got Rs. 17.35 crore for sewerage projects whereas Rs. 5.40 crore has been sanctioned for water supply projects.

He said that the cities and towns of the state have been acquiring new look with the dedicated and development oriented policies of the SAD-BJP Government. He said that the Punjab Government has been working on two pronged strategy under which supply of essential commodities like water sewerage system and street lights and setting up and up gradation of infrastructure of roads was the priority for the Government.
