Chandigarh, October 20, 2012: State Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against rampant corruption nabbed an officer of Primary Agriculture Development Bank (PADB) red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 in a corruption case.

Disclosing this here today, Suresh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere in the State. In this direction, the Vigilance Bureau caught Amrik Singh, posted as an Accountant-cum-Field Officer, PADB branch Lehragaga district Sangrur, for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant of Bhawishan Singh of village Dhindsa, block Moonak, district Sangrur.

He added that the complainant approached to the Bureau and accused that Field Officer Amrik Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from him for getting his loan case of Rs. 2 lac processed and issuance of cheque to him for construction of parking shed. After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by K.D Shamra DSP laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red handed in the presence of a shadow witness and two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from him. In this regard a vigilance case under FIR No. 20, u/s 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
