Sangrur, November 7, 2015: The 6th season of "Efficycle 2015", a student competition by Society of Automotive Engineers Northern India section (SAE-NIS) which tasks engineering students all over India to design and build human-powered vehicle namely “EFFICYCLE”.
 
The main event was hosted at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar from 15th-18th October 2015 and supported by Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil Corporation and International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT). Hundred teams from various engineering institutes including IITs and NITs, participated in main event.
 
SLIET team “Green Rangers” (ten student members) under the guidance of Faculty Advisor (FA) Dr Shankar Singh, Professor (Mechanical), designed and fabricated a three wheeled hybrid human powered vehicle, which has the capacity to act as a good viable option for local transportation.
 
Nearly 100 teams of top engineering institutions, including IITs, NITs and government institutions from across India exhibited their motorised expertise.
 
The team captain was Jatin Goel and Vice captain Kulwinder Singh Lotte. The Efficycle was driven by Kulwinder singh Lotte and Baltej Singh.
 
The SLIET team bagged the Overall Winner Award and a cash prize Rs.1 lacs/-; 2nd position in Endurance Race (Durabilty Award) and a cash prize Rs. 20,000 and Marketing Award and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.  
 
Professor (Dr) Shankar Singh was also awarded Dhronacharya Award for the Best Faculty Advisor, at the event.
