Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organised Panjab University Pharmaceutical Sciences Convocation

Chandigarh, April 25, 2017: The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized the Panjab University Pharmaceutical Sciences Convocation, wherein 65 successful graduate and postgraduate students of 2015-16 batch were awarded their Panjab University degrees by the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Professor Arun K Grover, and by the Chief Guest, Professor Roger D Kornberg, Nobel Laureate, Department of Structural Biology, Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, USA.

The ceremony was initiated by the welcome Address by Professor Renu Chadha, Chairperson, UIPS and shared the genesis of the Panjab University Pharmaceutical Sciences Oration and introduced the Orator. “Professor Kornberg possesses inimitable blend of experience and expertise as an academician- unparalleled by any pharmaceutical scientist across the country,” she said. Later she administered the “Oath for Code of Pharmaceutical Ethics” to all the students who were awarded their respective degrees.

Professor Arun K Grover, the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University dwelt upon the historical antecedents of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), since its inception in 1994 in Lahore as Department of Pharmacy. He further exhorted the students to maintain high sense of belonging to their alma mater which has helped in nurturing them to earn their livelihood, name and fame.

During the occasion, Professor Kornbergalso delivered the Convocation Address and the Panjab University Pharmaceutical Sciences Oration 2017 on ADVANCES IN PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY – THE END OF DISEASE?At the onset, he congratulated the organizers of this “3rd Pharma Convocation”.

Professor Indu Pal Kaur, Dean, Pharmaceutical Sciences later presented the successful passouts of B.Pharm and M.Pharm to the Vice Chancellor and Chief Guest for degrees award ceremony.
