Ludhiana, December 7, 2017: A total of 471 farmers and 60 farm women attended the monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The experts educated the farmers about weed control in rabi crops, micronutrients and biofertilizers, and care of dairy animals during winters. Besides, farmers were provided tips for marketing and commodity market. The camp was held under the guidance of Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education, PAU.
Dr D.S.Bhatti, Additional Director of Extension Education, while addressing the farmers, urged them to make judicious use of pesticides and fertilizers to cut expenses on the purchase of farm inputs. He also called upon them to conserve natural resources for agriculture sustainability.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Dr T.S. Riar, Coordinator of the club, advised the farmers to acquire skill development trainings, started by PAU in all areas of agriculture, for income generation.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of women’s wing of the club, said food and nutrition experts of PAU gave demonstrations on the preparation of nutritious recipes using oilseeds.
