There exists innumerable kinds of films. Romantic, Comedy, Period, Rom-Com, Sci-Fi, Animation and many more but there are also films that showcase the deep honesty and a touch of reality that affect our souls the most. They make us think how valuable our lives are and educates us about heart pounding stories of characters who are not easily recognized in the society. In Hollywood, there have been innumerable films that have presented the existence of drug cartels or drug trafficking organizations. Such cartels have been portrayed in a number of movies that have become benchmarks as to a look into the dramatic world which most people are unaware of. Some phenomenal stories have been documented and filmed regarding this constant and ever gaining issue, Here are a few films that present different tales that are worth a watch.
Savages
Written by Shane Salerno , Don Winslow and Oliver Stone, Savages is a moral tangle embedded in a bloody war between two best buddies in Laguna Beach and the queen of a Mexican drug cartel. The film tells that tale of Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben, a peaceful and charitable Buddhist and his closest friend Chon, a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry-raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia. Their lives remain idyllic in their Southern California town until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them.
Traffic _ No one gets away clean
A story of stories or rather series of inter-related stories, some highly personal whereas some filled with intrigue and danger, the film Traffic is an intertwined drama about the United States' war on drugs. From a Mexican policeman finding himself caught in a web of corruption to a pair of undercover DEA agents work in the sordid and dangerous world of San Diego dealers to a wealthy drug baron living in upscale, suburban America arrested and learns how quickly his unknowing and pampered wife takes over his business, the film is one of the most notable films that showcases such a riveting series of stories that are definitely worth a watch.
Sicario _ The Border is just another line to cross
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Sicario highlights the drug wars occurring in the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico. When drug violence worsens an idealistic FBI agent, Kate Macer (played by Emily Blunt) is enlisted by an elite government task force official (Josh Brolin) to aid in the escalating war against drugs and eradicate a drug cartel responsible for a bomb that had killed members of her team. The film will be premiering on Star Movies Select HD on Saturday at 9pm, “Sicario” is a deeply satisfying, intense examination of a war with no rules of engagement, driven by a spectacular performance by Benicio Del Toro and typically mesmerizing cinematography from Roger Deakins. It is a movie of secrets and the threat of constant violence is always there.
