Four years rigorous imprisonment with fine to then sub-inspector of CBI for allegedly securing employment on false & forged caste certificate

New Delhi/Jalandhar, February 19, 2014: The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai has today convicted  R. Nandagopal, then  Sub-Inspector of Police of CBI and sentenced him to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs1 lakh for allegedly securing employment on false & forged Caste Certificate.
CBI had registered a case against its Sub Inspector, R.Nandagopal posted at Economic Offences Wing, Chennai on the allegation that  R.Nandagopal had produced a false & forged Caste Certificate purportedly issued by the Special Deputy Tahsildar (C), Mylapore, Triplicane Taluk, Chennai on the basis of which he secured employment in CBI as Constable and further secured appointment as direct Sub-Inspector under Scheduled Tribe quota.
After thorough investigation, CBI filed charge sheet against the accused person u/s 420, and 471 r/w 468 of IPC.
