GKU inks MoU with Pharmaceutical Institute of Canada for academic cooperation

Talwandi Sabo, May 24, 2017: The Guru Kashi University (GKU) and the Canada based Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (TIPT) have signed an MoU for academic cooperation. The MoU was signed by Dr Alexander MacGregor, President, on behalf of TIPT and S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman, on behalf of GKU. The signed agreement will be valid for five years and can be renewed further upon mutual consent. As per the signed MoU, a Joint Masters Course in Pharmaceutical Technology has been started from 2017-18 wherein the students will study for one year each at GKU and TIPT.
The Chancellor, Dr J.S.Dhaliwal, said that the MoU will facilitate our students in getting the benefit of advance infrastructure and facilities both at GKU and TIPT, besides having hands-on learning experience, thorough education and training,
The Chairman, S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, said that signing of MoUs between well reputed Universities/Institutes provides opportunities of mutual benefit of each other’s expertise and scientific facilities. He described the event as a win-win situation for GKU and TIPT.
The Managing Director of GKU, S. Sukhraj Singh Sidhu congratulated the partners of both organizations in arriving at a common academic agenda through signing of the MoU.
The GKU Vice Chancellor, Col Dr B.S.Dhaliwal while elaborating the course said that the candidates, who have completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or B. Pharma or B.Sc (Non–Medical) or B.Sc (Medical) in designated disciplines will complete Part-I of the course at GKU and attain an average Grade B+ in Part-I at GKU and also achieve English Language Proficiency (IELTS) of minimum 6.00 or equivalent before commencement of Part-II at TIPT.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Jagpal Singh described the GKU-TIPT academic linkage as distinctive opportunity for students to have an international experience of latest advances in pharmaceutical technology under the Indo-Canadian academic collaboration.
Earlier, giving details, the GKU Registrar, Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman said that besides the curriculum for the first year(Part-I) at Talwandi Sabo, GKU will create English pathway course, enabling the students for admission in Part-II at TIPT. A Steering Committee, chaired by S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu (GKU) and Dr Alexander MacGregor (TIPT), with Mr P.Lamba (GKU) and Mr Frank Martinuzzi of (TIPT) as technical members, will steer the joint programme, he said. The Steering Committee shall hold annual working meeting once every year to review the performance of the joint project.
