Haryana CM welcomes hike in MSP of Rabi Crops 2016-17

Chandigarh, November 6, 2015: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal while welcoming the decision of Central Government to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rabi Crops 2016-17, thanked the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and said that by raising the MSP of Rabi crops for ensuing season 2015-16, the farmers would be greatly benefitted.
            Notably, the Central Government has increased the MSP of Rabi crops 2016-17. There is an increase of Rs 75 in MSP of wheat, with which its price has been increased to Rs 1,525 per quintal from Rs 1,450 per quintal. There is also an increase of Rs 75 in MSP of Barley, which is now priced at Rs 1,225 from Rs 1,150 per quintal.
            Similarly, there is also substantial increase in the MSP of Grams, Masur, Mustard and Sunflower. There is an increase of Rs 250 each in the MSP of both Gram and Mustard, with which price of Gram has been increased to Rs 3,425 from Rs 3,175 per quintal and price of Mustard has been increased to Rs 3,350 from Rs 3,100 per quintal. Besides this, the MSP of Masur pulses has been increased to Rs 3,525 from Rs 3,075 per quintal and the MSP of Sunflower has been increased to Rs 3,300 from Rs 3,040 per quintal, which indicates an increase of Rs 450 and Rs 260, respectively.
            The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister and said that this reflects his visionary thinking, which has provided great benefit to farmers with the increase of MSP./ (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
