Haryana Government signs MoU with IOCL for beautification and enhancing of overall ambience of area under 2.7-Kms. of Elevated Highway Corridor in Panipat

Chandigarh, March 30, 2017: Haryana Government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for the beautification and enhancing of the overall ambience of the area under the 2.7 kilometers of Elevated Highway Corridor in Panipat. The MOU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal. While Deputy Commissioner, Panipat Dr.Chander Shekhar Khare signed the MOU on behalf of the State Government, Executive Director (In-charge), Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Mr.B.V Rama Gopal signed on behalf of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). The Chief Minister congratulated the IOCL on entering into an agreement with the State Government and said they should make efforts to complete this project by October, 2017, within the Swarna Jayanti Year of the State. Mr. B.V Rama Gopal informed the Chief Minister that the Board of Indian Oil Corporation Limited has approved over Rs 6.84 crore for this project under its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative. Under this project, facilities like five toilet complexes, interlocking paver blocks and 140 LED lights would be provided under the 2.7 kilometers of Elevated Highway Corridor which would not only ensure the overall ambience of the area, but also support the National Mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, help to curb pollution and ensure smooth parking. Mr B.V. Rama Gopal thanked the Chief Minister for providing this opportunity to IOCL and assured him that efforts would be made to complete this project by October 2017. It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal had made an announcement give facelift to the area under the Elevated Highway Corridor in the middle of the Panipat City on G.T road. Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal and Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr Dharmendra Pradhan had in a meeting held at Panipat Refinery on October 10, 2016 decided that the expenditure for the project would be made by the IOCL under its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative. Among those present on this occasion included MLA Panipat Mrs Rohita Revari, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Rajesh Khullar and other senior officers of State Government and IOCL.
