New Delhi/Jalandhar, December 12, 2013: Haryana would soon get 1100 kilometer new rural roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This would mark the beginning of Phase-2 of PMGSY as per which Central Government would spend 75 percent and State Government would incur 25 per cent.
Haryana Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda and Dr Ashok Tanwar met the Prime Minister (PM) Dr Manmohan Singh at New Delhi on Thursday. The two leaders thanked the PM and invited the PM to inaugurate the Gorakhpur Atomic Power Plant (GAPP) in Fatehabad and Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) at Jassaur Khedi in National Capital Region (NCR). PM Dr Manmohan Singh gave his consent to inaugurate the two big projects near the beginning of New Year.
Hooda said that GCNEP will be a new landmark provide and benefit to the state. It would provide thought leadership and research guidance in the field of Nuclear Energy Systems, Nuclear Security and radiological Safety issues along with applications of radioisotopes and radiation technologies across the globe. GAPP is being set up in 1313 Acre land and is slated to generate 2800 MW power, he added.
Deepinder has also thanked the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister Jai Ram Ramesh for starting the PMGSY. It may be recalled that delegation of Haryana Congress MPs had earlier met the PM to demand the PMGSY in the state.
