Heroin worth Rs 180 crore seized

Jalandhar, January 21, 2014: The Border Security Force have seized 36 kilograms of heroine, worth Rs 180 crore in the International market from Amritsar and Ferozpur sectors in Punjab on Indo-Pak International border.

“The BSF troops deployed on border have seized 36 packets of Heroine, worth Rs 180 crore in the International market, in two separate incident in Amritsar and Ferozpur sector. Each packet contains one KG of narcotics”, said IG Punjab frontier of BSF Ajay Kumar Tomar.

“Apart from this huge consignment of narcotics BSF troops also recovered two Pistols, three Magazines 17 rounds of ammunition and 1 Pak Mobile phone with SIM”, he added.

“BSF troops deployed in Border Out Post Naushera Dhalla, Amritsar Sector observed suspicious movement near Border Security fence. Immediately they challenged and sensing danger to life troops fired 5 rounds on the smugglers to check their further misadventure. However the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of night and fog. During search of the area 20 packets of heroin, one Pistol with 2 Magazines, 12 rounds and 1 mobile phone with SIM have been recovered”, Tomar said.

“In a separate incident on Border Out Post Kassoke, in Ferozepur Sector, BSF man heard some suspicious sound near Border Security fence. Visibility was very poor due to thick fog. BSF sentry challenged the miscreants but they fired 3 rounds towards BSF troops.  Sensing danger to life and in self defence BSF sentry also retaliated by firing 4 rounds. However the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of night and fog.
