Shimla, September 21, 2017: While addressing a public meeting at Dargi in Chalahal Gram Panchayat of Shimla Rural constituency today, Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh said that progress and prosperity could not be achieved by a society which was not educated enough and keeping this in view he personally had accorded special attention to this vital sector.

To ensure higher education to the students at their door steps, especially the girl child more than 16,000 schools and 136 degree colleges have been opened in rural and far flung areas of the State, which had helped in increasing the literacy percentage to 88 percent as of now and taking the Himachal amongst top ranked states of the country in higher education.

Similarly, with a motive to ensure specialized health services to people, more than 230 health institutes had been opened or upgraded during the present regime. Not only this, a super specialty block of IGMC to cost Rs. 290 crores was coming up at Chamiyana. I want the health infrastructure to be strengthened in rural areas said Chief Minister adding that my government was committed to provide best medical facilities to the people near to their homes..

The state government was committed to providing road facility to all Gram Panchayats so as to ensure speedy and all-round development of all areas of the State. During almost five years around 2500 kilometers of new roads and about 220 bridges have been constructed.

Referring to Shimla Rural constituency, Shri Virbhadra Singh said this Assembly segment had witnessed new era of progress and prosperity where as per the developmental needs and aspirations of the people, construction of roads to connect villages, providing drinking water facility, opening of health, education, revenue and other institutions had been opened in abundance.

He laid foundation stone of Mahasheer Hatchery-cum-Carp breeding unit Nagar (Dargi). The unit would be set up on Sainj khud by spending a sum of Rs. 2.97 crore. The stocking of the seeds to be produced in this unit would be done in Kol dam and it would go a long way in fulfilling the seeds demand of the fishermen of various parts of the State.

The Chief Minister laid foundation stone of link road to Village Ayog to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.44 crore. He inaugurated the building of government senior secondary school Dargi constructed at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore and science block the school competed at a cost of Rs. 1.80 crore, laid foundation stones of the building of Ayurvedic Health Centre Dargi and foot-bridge from village Nagar to Kaloh.

He inaugurated the Primary Health Centre building at Nehra constructed at a cost of Rs.1.50 crore and laid foundation stones of GSSS Mandhorghat to cost rupees two crore and Primary Health Centre Mandhorghat which would be constructed by spending a sum of Rs.1.43 crore.

At Sunni, the Chief Minister inaugurated ITI building constructed at a cost of Rs.3.50 crore, laid foundation stones of building of Govt. Senior Secondary School to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore besides BEEO office.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the link road at village Mungna under Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana besides inaugurating building of GSSS Khera completed at a cost of Rs.1.20 crore and lift Irrigation scheme Jaishi-Bharara on which Rs. 80,95 lakh have been spent.

Himachal Pradesh Ayurvedic Medical Officers Association presented a cheque of Rs. 59,000 towards Chief Ministers Relief Fund on the occasion.

Shri Virbhadra Singh announced to provide Rs. 25,000 to the school children of GSSS Dargi for promotion of cultural activities.

He also addressed public meetings at Nehra and Mandhorghat and listened to the public grievances at several places.

President, State Youth Congress Shri Vikramditya Singh, Zila Parishad Chairperson Smt. Dharmila Harnot, BDC Chairman Shri Pradeep Verma, Block Congress President Shri Chandershekhar Sharma, Pradhan Gram Panchayat Dargi Shri Chiranji Lal were also present on the occasion.
