Jalandhar, March 25, 2017: Major General Somnath Jha a Veteran, who is on a cycling mission to pay tribute to all martyred soldiers of the Nation arrived at Jalandhar Cantonment on 25th March and was received by Major General Balwinder Singh, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps and a large number of officers, ladies and other ranks of Jalandhar Cantonment.
The General officer during his interaction, reiterated that the decision to cycle 12,000 Km covering all states of the country over a period of seven months, was a personal homage to over 21000 martyrs who made selfless sacrifice defending the honour of the Nation. He said that this cause is also for martyr’s families who suffer unimaginable anguish, pain and trauma after the loss of their loved ones. His journey commenced on 19th October last year, from Ambala cantonment, which was his last posting before superannuation. After having travelled the entire length of the country, the General will be culminating his journey at Amar Jawan Jyoti, New Delhi on 19th April 2017.
