Chandigarh, April 26, 2014: Senior Advocate Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu has been elected as President of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association on Friday, with huge margin of 852 votes by defeating his rival Ranjan Lakhanpal, Senior Advocate. Dr. Sidhu has become the President of High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh, as he has been elected for the sixth time on the post of President of one of the Country's oldest and leading Bar Associations, which speaks volumes for the outstanding working of Dr. Sidhu for his contribution towards the interest of legal fraternity of High Court Bar Association. Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu is also Assistant Solicitor General of India.
Advocate Saurav Khurana has been won as Secretary with a very huge margin of 1854 votes, it is a matter of record in the history of HCBA with Sh Khurana attaining one of the highest margin of victory being elected for the post of Secretary.
Advocate Nirbhay Garg was elected Vice-President with 1571 votes. The post of Joint Secretary, which was reserved for women, was bagged by Advocate Sanamjit Kaur and Advocate Deepankar Sharma elected as the Treasurer. Around 20 executive members of the bar association under various category were also elected. In all, 2907 advocates, out of the 3653 registered voters cast their votes to elect President, Secretary and other office bearers.
Several prominent lawyers of High Court congratulated Dr. Sidhu and his team, as and when the result was officially declared on April 25 at about 6.30 pm in the High Court premises. Harpreet Sandhu, Former Additional Advocate General Punjab hailed the tremendous victory of Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu and proudly stated that Dr. Sidhu deserve re-elected as President of HCBA ,as Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu has always stood for interest of Bar Association and the Legal fraternity since several years and credit goes to Dr. Sidhu and his team for the prominent achievements during his previous term as President (2013-2014) for providing Air-conditioned canteen hall with new furniture, Library Extension, Renovation of Bar rooms, AC bar room extension and obtaining funds for the Bar Association from the Chief Minister's of Punjab & Haryana.
