IDBI Bank provides financial assistance Under CSR to Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of Tripura for purchase of Gymnastics equipment

Agartala, November 24, 2016: As a sign of support towards nurturing talent in the sport of gymnastics, IDBI Bank, as part of its CSR initiative, has provided financial assistance to the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura for funding of critical gymnastics equipment, for the benefit of upcoming and budding gymnasts. The equipment has been installed at Dasaratha Dev State Sports Complex, Badharghat, Agartala. An event was held today to dedicate the equipment to the sports fraternity of Tripura, in the august presence of Shri Sahid Choudhuri, Hon’ble Minister of Govt. of Tripura for Minority Devt, Labour and Education (Sports & Youth Affairs). Ms. Dipa Karmakar, Olympian gymnast, Arjuna Awardee and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee and her coach Shri Bishweshwar Nandi, Dronacharya Awardee, were also felicitated at the event by Shri K. P. Nair, Deputy Managing Director, IDBI Bank. Ms. Karmakar was trained under the Directorate of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of Tripura and is a valued customer of IDBI Bank Agartala branch.

Earlier in the day, IDBI Bank inaugurated its Uttar Champamura branch in Old Agartala to tap high growth regions in North-east market fueling business expansion. The branch was inaugurated by Ms. Dipa Karmakar & Shri Bishweshwar Nandi in the presence of Shri K. P. Nair, Deputy Managing Director, IDBI Bank and Shri Pabitra Kar, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly.

Speaking on the occasion Shri K. P. Nair said, “The opening of the new branch aligns with the Bank’s plan of reaching out and offering banking services including credit, savings, and other financial products to customers in the North-East. Ms. Dipa is a source of inspiration for all of us who dare to dream. We extend our heartfelt support to the budding gymnasts of the state who can bring further laurels for the country.”

Ms. Dipa Karmakar, on behalf of the sporting fraternity and herself thanked IDBI Bank for its contribution towards sporting infrastructure for the State of Tripura.
