Ludhiana, April 8, 2017: Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) has expressed serious concern on the use of chemical weapons and thereafter missile attack, on the population in Syria killing hundreds of innocent people.
In the statement released here today, Dr L S Chawla – Patron IDPD, Dr S S Soodan – President IDPD, Dr Arun Mitra Senior Vice President IDPD and Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman – General Secretary IDPD that that this situation is not controlled could lead to further escalations in war which would affect not only the Middle East but also spread to other parts of the world. The threat of use of nuclear weapons would also increase under such circumstances. Any external intervention in Syria is totally uncalled for and it should be stopped. It is high time that UNO should intervene effectively in restoring peace in the region. “Indian government should use its good offices to defuse the tension there”, they added.
