Ludhiana, December 1, 2017: World AIDS Day was observed today in Dumra auditorium of DMCH. The day was observed by conducting role plays, quiz programe and delivering of lectures by faculty members for the department of Microbiology.
Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta was the chief guest along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Supdt. Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Principal College of Nursing Dr (Mrs) Triza Jiwan and Nursing Supdt Mrs Minakshi Pereira.
Dr Deepinder Chhina, Professor & Head of Microbiolgy, extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and audience present on the occasion. In her address, Dr Deepinder Chhina and that AIDS has become one of the most serious health hazard all over the world and India is ranked as the world's third-largest population suffering from HIV/AIDS. The spread of HIV in India has got restricted to a great extent through extensive anti-AIDS campaign but still a lot more is required to make people aware about HIV infection and AIDS. Observing of WORLD AIDS DAY is opportunity for people all over the world to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness ,says Dr Chhina.
Dr Rama Gupta and Dr Veenu Gupta from Department of Microbiology also delivered lectures on the topic of AIDS and HIV infection.
Students from College of Nursing had made impressive posters regarding awareness about AIDS and preventive measures to stop HIV infection
The winners of quiz and participants of role play were awarded prizes by the dignitaries present on the occasion.
