Infosys Showcases Environmental Sustainability Initiatives at its Hyderabad Campus

Hyderabad, July 20, 2017: Infosys recently launched its 10th Sustainability Report highlighting the various responsible business practices undertaken by the company across economic, social and environmental parameters, in accordance with the Global Reporting initiative G4 (comprehensive) guidelines. In line with its sustainability policy, Infosys has focused its efforts on enhancing environmental performance by improving energy efficiency, becoming water sustainable, minimizing waste-to-landfills, increasing the use of renewable energy, reducing carbon footprint and contribution to biodiversity.

Some of the key initiatives that were undertaken at its Hyderabad campus are as follows:
· Green Buildings: Infosys has been focusing on green building as it preserves most of the natural resources around the project site. In fiscal 2017, Infosys’ STPI campus in Gachibowli, Hyderabad was awarded Platinum Certification under LEED EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Existing Building) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The company has a total of nearly 11.1 million sq. ft. of buildings with highest rating across various campuses including Hyderabad STPI campus.
· Renewable Energy: In order to reduce carbon footprint, Infosys has invested in smart retrofit programs across various campuses including Hyderabad STPI campus. The company also Installed 15.2 MW solar capacity (rooftop + ground-mount) across locations. Hyderabad contributes to 7.7MW of installed capacity, which also helps in meeting 68% of Hyderabad SEZ campus energy requirement.
· Food waste Management: To address waste management in an integrated manner, the company has installed biogas plants with an overall capacity of 9.25 TPD installed across various campuses. Infosys has set up a fully automated biogas plant at its Hyderabad campus, with a capacity to treat 0.7 (STPI Campus) and 1 (SEZ campus) tonnes of food waste per day. The plant also allows online monitoring and reduces manual operations and errors. Furthermore, the company also has 3.1 TPD installed capacity of composting plants in different campuses including Hyderabad.

Moving into the new fiscal, the company will continue to innovate and nurture new ideas that has the potential to tackle the environmental challenges of today and the future.
