Jalandhar, April 19, 2017: In order to instill a sense of sportsmanship and healthy competition among the students of the ever-expanding Cambridge family, a four day Inter-Cambridge Sports Meet was organized at Cambridge International School, Jalandhar .This Sports Meet to be held from April 19 to 22 has set another benchmark in the history of the prodigious events of the school inviting enthusiastic participation from students of all schools of Cambridge.
Keeping in mind the motto of Cambridge Schools - Dream, Dare and Do and the fervor of sportsmanship, the event was inaugurated in all its grandeur. Ms Kiranjoth Dhillon, Principal CIS Chotti Baradari extended formal welcome to the chief guest Mr.Sukhvir Singh Grewal, Director, Punjab Institute of Sports, Chandigarh, dignitaries and principals of all schools of Learning Wings. In her welcome address the Principal Ms.Kiranjoth Dhillon motivated the students to perform their best and participate with the true feeling of sportsmanship. Then the Flag was hoisted to give the event an energetic start. The students of participating Cambridge Schools - Cambridge International School For Girls, Cambridge International Foundation School, Cambridge International School Kapurthala, Cambridge International School Kullu, Cambridge International School Nakodar, Cambridge International School Nawanshahr, Cambridge International School Palampur, Cambridge International School Phagwara and Cambridge International School Jalandhar displayed their zeal and zest in March Past.
The ‘Sports Meet’ was declared ‘Open’ by the Chief Guest and was followed by the releasing of balloons. All the participants took an oath to uphold and abide by the rules of sportsmanship by taking vow in the Oath Taking Ceremony. The students joined hands in the intiative taken by the school to make it No-Polythene Zone and to ban the use of polythene bags as a wise step towards environment conservation. The Torch Ceremony led by the Star sports students of Cambridge family-Jayan Pasricha, Dimple, Manthan, Neil Mahajan, Anhaita, Rashan, Rabhya, Tushita, Fateh Singh Dhillon, Gurinder Singh, Gurnav Singh Bhatia, Agambir Singh, Vikrant Gupta, Suhaan Gulati, Preetpal Singh, Harshwinder Kaur, Manik was the main attraction of the event and which also invigorated the spirit of sportsmanship among the participants .The Sports Torch was lit by Mr. Manish Kumar and Mr. Ramesh Kumar, the sports teachers who have made the school proud by winning National medal in Skate Hockey and International medal in Taekwondo respectively. The ambience of the event was further heightened by the exciting song and dance performances presented by the students of Cambridge International School. The students displayed their flexibility and perfection in the Yoga performance. The chief guest for the event Mr Sukhvir Singh Garewal motivated the players and guided them to continue in the field of sports with dedication and focus to soar high in the arena of sports. The encouraging words by the Chief Education Officer Ms. Deepa Dogra also lifted the spirit of the participants.
On this occasion, Chairman Mr. Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Mr. Deepak Bhatia, Executive Director LWES Mr. J.K Kohli, CEO LWES Dr. Brijesh, Director LWES Mr. Nitin Kohli, Chief Education Officer LWES Ms. Deepa Dogra , Secretariat LWES Ms Geeta Mahajan , Ms. Meenu Huria, Principals of all Learning Wings Schools, Principal Cambridge International School Chhoti Baradari Ms Kiranjoth Dhillon, LWES Sports Co-ordinator Mr. A.S Sikand and Deputy Sports Coordinator Mr.Anurag and Ms Harpreet congratulated the Sports Departments of all the schools for their indefatigable efforts that motivated the students to make an effort and take the initiative to prove their mettle.
Overall, the opening of the Inter Cambridge Sports Meet was a grand success.
